JAPASS Form One History Students Embark on Educational Trip to the Cultural Center and Manhyia Museum

On June 28th, 2024, Jachie-Pramso Senior High School's (JAPASS) Form One History students embarked on a captivating journey through Ghana's heritage with a trip to two remarkable institutions: The Cultural Centre and the Manhyia Palace Museum. This well-rounded educational experience aimed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering these first-year history students a firsthand encounter with the rich tapestry of Ghanaian history and culture.

Equipped with knowledgeable guides, the students explored the historic center's various sections, gaining insights into significant historical events, figures, and cultural practices.

The Cultural Centre provided a broad introduction to Ghanaian culture. The students explored exhibits showcasing diverse art forms like drumming, weaving, and traditional attire. Interactive displays also offered insights into social customs, religious practices, and historical timelines, giving them a comprehensive understanding of the cultural landscape that shaped Ghana's past and present.

Following this enriching experience, the JAPASS Form One History students ventured to the Manhyia Palace Museum in Kumasi. This historic gem, situated within the Manhyia Palace, offered a focused glimpse into the Asante Kingdom's rich history and traditions. Under the guidance of knowledgeable museum staff, the students explored exhibits showcasing artifacts associated with Asantehene royalty, from regalia and weaponry to furniture and precious ornaments.

Throughout the visit, students had the opportunity to ask questions and delve further into topics that piqued their curiosity which the tour guides humbly answered to the student's understanding.

By combining a broad cultural immersion at the Cultural Centre with a focused historical exploration at the Manhyia Palace Museum, this trip offered the students a well-rounded historical experience. Witnessing artifacts and learning the stories behind them brought their classroom lessons to life, fostering a deeper appreciation for Ghana's vibrant heritage. This immersive learning experience will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on these young minds, sparking a passion for further exploration of the nation's rich past.
